A Potential Early Warning System for Sexual Misconduct

A common thread in the most significant sexual misconduct cases is the length of time the accused provider went undetected and perpetuated their behavior. In this exclusive presentation, Dr. Adam Schaffer will share the results of his research to understand the extent to which complaints filed against physicians through the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) serve as any predictor or “marker” for a physician’s likelihood to be accused of sexual misconduct. These research findings could potentially have significant implications for physician hiring, credentialing, and insurability, and for organizational exposure and reinsurance.
