It organizes the essential dimensions of every case, including its central allegation, contributing factors, clinical context, injury, severity, and many other dimensions that can be classified and analyzed.
By creating a common language for MPL data, the taxonomy enables organizations to move beyond individual case stories and identify broader patterns, clinical risk areas, and opportunities for patient-safety improvement.
For example, its allegation structure is designed to capture the central themes of a case and cluster similar cases around meaningful clinical targets.
