Michael Paskavitz

Vice President, Candello

Mike Paskavitz is the Vice President of Candello. He is responsible for the mission, vision and growth of the Candello data collaborative. Mike joined Candello in 2018 with a deep entrepreneurial background in healthcare risk, safety and quality. For 10 years prior to Candello, he served as Vice President and was the senior healthcare executive for two technology-based start-up companies committed to reducing risk and improving safety: Amplifire, an advanced adaptive learning platform, and QuantiaMD, a mobile physician engagement platform.

His roots in patient safety and risk management date back to 1992, when he launched Briefings on Hospital Safety, a national publication focused on safety in hospitals. In 1996, Mike founded the Health Care Safety Institute as a publishing, education and consulting resource on the evolving science of safety in healthcare.

Following a five year consulting engagement to the National Health Service in England, Mike published a book entitled Measuring and Communicating Success in Healthcare (2004, Witherbys on London), which received the British Medical Association’s Silver book award. A journalist by formal training, he has been published in and contributed to numerous healthcare trade journals and publications.

What gets me excited about my work?
Making a difference and helping big ideas happen. I am driven by the challenge to make healthcare safer and thereby better for my daughter and generations to follow. It has to happen. And I fundamentally believe that excellent data and useful tools in the hands of smart people can be a powerful change agent to that end. That happens to be precisely what CRICO believes and how it has operated for more than 40 years. That’s why I’m here.

On the weekends, you’ll find me...
With my wife Laurie and daughter Magnolia (Noli). I enjoy playing with our dogs, going to Noli’s dance competitions as well as movies, theater, live music and sporting events, and generally socializing with friends and family. We love to travel near and far, especially with my step kids Brendan and Ali, so I am excited to live freely and fearlessly again once the pandemic subsides.
