Researchers used the Candello national database of medical liability claims to analyze the issue of medical errors in radiation oncology (RO).

The analysis of closed RO cases ranging from years 2005 to 2014 informed researchers that although closed malpractice cases involving RO are rare events, certain populations may be over-represented in closed claims. These data can help inform providers and systems with the goal of ultimately improving patient safety.
