Boston, MA, August 11, 2020 – In its 30th Annual Lamplighter Awards, the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) honored hospitals, health care facilities and marketing/advertising agencies for excellence in marketing, public relations and communications. Among the winners was Candello (formerly CRICO Strategies), winner of a Silver Lamplighter Award for its online Candello Community, a forum created to facilitate communication and sharing of data, tools, and best practices among Strategies' clients.
The Lamplighters were established to showcase and honor excellence in health care communications throughout the New England region. The 2020 competition totaled 282 entries across multiple categories, which were judged by other health care marketing societies across the country.
Candello clients contribute their malpractice claims to its national database, which currently holds more than 450,000 medical malpractice cases from more than 22 captive and commercial medical malpractice insurers representing more than 550 health care entities and nearly 195,000 clinicians nationwide. Candello provides a unique insight into what goes wrong, and why, offering intelligence to specific risk vulnerabilities. Armed with this data, health care providers and leaders have a clear line of sight on how to change specific clinical systems or clinician behaviors and mitigate those dominant risks and reduce their malpractice exposure.
Through the newly launched online Candello Community, members can discuss challenging issues, best practices and share ideas for improving clinical care in order to improve patient safety and reduce medical malpractice exposure. It offers private groups for professionals involved in Claims management, Underwriting, Patient Safety, and Analytics.
Community members participate in monthly calls, webinars, and focused group calls. The online Candello Community provides a private, secure forum for them to reach out to one another between the scheduled calls. It also offers them resources not available to the general public for example slides and recordings from webinars and calls.
“As an organization, CRICO has always believed that data, by itself, is just data. But people collaborating with data as a shared language can really drive change,” says Michael Paskvatiz, Vice President of Candello. He continued, “Our Candello members were asking for more direct access to one-another to continue conversations from scheduled calls and webinars. We are thrilled that they have embraced this new platform as a hub for engaging in the community. And we firmly believe that a secure, convenient and useful environment can become an important tool for our clients to reduce the risk they underwrite.”
Candello received a Silver Lamplighter Award in 2017 for its report, Malpractice Risks in Communication Failures.
