Report Highlights

In this Candello report, we identify contributing factors and lessons learned based on analysis of nearly 1,500 cases filed during a five-year span related to errors generated from the most common of medical procedures. Procedure cases affect patients at all stages of care: screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow up. The most prevalent procedures in this study are typically within the normal limits of the diagnostic or treatment course. This Report highlights six primary medical procedures: scopes, injections, punctures, biopsies, tubes, and imaging.
